Pawfect Stay Booking and Boarding Policy

1. Definitions

  • “The Business” means Sniffing Hound Pty Ltd Trading As “Pawfect Stay”.
  • “The Owner” means the person who owns the pet or is authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
  • “Pet” means the animal using the Business’s services.
  • “Services” includes boarding, transport/pet taxi, and any related products or services provided by the business.

2. Bookings, Payments, and Cancellations

    • Deposits & Payment: A 10% deposit of the rack rate (before discount) is required to confirm a booking. Bookings must be paid in full before the start of the boarding period. Payments can be made via cash, direct deposit or card (a 1.6% merchant surcharge applies to card payments).
    • Cancellations: The deposit is refundable if the booking is cancelled at least 14 days before the boarding start date. If cancelled within 14 days and the boarding fee has been paid in full, a cancellation fee equivalent to 50% of the invoice price applies. The remaining 50% may be transferred as an account credit for future bookings.
    • Peak Periods & Early Departures: Boarding rates are charged per calendar day. If a pet’s stay is reduced during high/peak periods, the full booking amount is payable. All fees are non-refundable once boarding has commenced.
    • Holiday Surcharge: A surcharge per pet, per day will apply to all bookings (including arrival/departure days) during Easter, Christmas, and New Year holidays (specific dates are listed on our website https://pawfectstay.com.au/prices/.
  • Discount: Discount is applicable to boarding rack rate only, does not apply to extras such as Holiday Surcharge, Pet Taxi, Bath or Additional updates or playtimes etc.
  • Payment Failures & Additional Charges: The Owner agrees to pay all costs for special services, late collection fees, or property damage caused by the Pet. If a payment fails or an invoice remains unpaid, the Business may suspend services, apply reasonable interest, and commence debt recovery proceedings.

3. Vaccination, Health, and Wellbeing

  • Vaccination Requirements: All pets must be aged 5 months or over and fully vaccinated with an up-to-date C5 vaccination (or equivalent). Two consecutive vaccinations must be shown upon admission. Dogs will not be permitted to stay without proof.
  • 14-Day Lapse Rule: If a pet’s previous vaccination has lapsed by more than 14 days, any new vaccination must be administered at least 10 days before check-in.
  • Parasite Control: Pets must be delivered in a clean condition, free from fleas or ticks. If fleas or ticks are found, The Business will require the pet to be washed and treated at our discretion, with all associated costs reimbursed by the Owner at check-out.
  • Senior Pets & Illness: A fit-to-board certificate from a veterinarian may be required if a pet is aged 13 years or older, or has had major surgery/significant illness in the past 6 months. Boarding Liability Waiver require to be signed at the time of check-in. 
  • Desexing & Registration: Owners declare that their pet is registered with their local council. Dogs over 12 months of age must be desexed to participate in group or shared activities.

4. Behaviour, Assessments, and Suitability

  • Disclosure: The Owner must disclose any behavioural history, including aggression, fear, reactivity, excessive barking, or stranger/breed aversion.
  • Right to Refuse: The Business may conduct behavioural assessments and reserves the absolute right to refuse entry or terminate services for any pet if they present a safety, welfare, or operational risk.

5. Accommodation and Personal Items

  • Shared Boarding: Companion boarding is provided unless otherwise requested. If a compatible roommate cannot be maintained safely, the dog will be moved to a solo room, and the Owner will be charged the applicable solo room rate.
  • Personal Items: The Business is not responsible for the loss, damage, or destruction of personal items (toys, bedding). Unsafe or unhygienic items may be disposed of.

6. Veterinary Care and Medications

  • Emergency Care: If a pet becomes ill or injured, The Business will attempt to contact the Owner or designated emergency contact. If unreachable, the Business is authorised to act in the pet’s best interest, including seeking veterinary care at the closest clinic or 24/7 Animal Hospital.
  • Veterinary Costs: The Owner is liable for all veterinary costs. The Business charges a $60/hour (including GST) fee for veterinary/hospital visits, covering transportation and wait times.
  • Medications: Medications must be provided in original packaging with veterinary labels. The Business takes due care but accepts no responsibility for adverse reactions.
  • Liability Waiver: The Business is not liable for Paralysis Tick, Canine Influenza, injury, death, or damage, nor for the outcomes of veterinary treatment.

7. Abandoned Pet Procedure

  • A pet may be deemed abandoned if an invoice is overdue by more than 2 weeks and the Owner fails to respond to contact attempts.
  • The Business may surrender abandoned dogs to an animal rescue centre or local council pound, and will commence debt recovery with a collection agency for all outstanding fees.

8. Transport and Pet Taxi Terms

  • Transport services are subject to availability. The Owner must ensure safe access for collection/return.
  • The Business is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from the use of Pet Taxi services, except as required under the Australian Consumer Law.

9. Media, Photography, and Privacy

  • Media: The Owner allows the pet to be photographed/filmed for promotional purposes. Owners may opt out by providing written notice prior to check-in.
  • Privacy: The Business collects personal and health information to provide services. Information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and may be shared with veterinarians or software providers to facilitate care.

10. Owners Responsibilities & Indemnity

Under no circumstances will the Business, or its employees or agents, be responsible for injury, death, loss or damage of any kind.

The Owner is responsible for:

  • any loss or damage caused by their pet
  • any damage to Business property

Liability is reduced to the extent the Business contributed to the loss.

 

11. General Legal Terms

  • Lien Clause: This agreement creates a lien over the pet; the Business may retain possession until all charges are paid.
  • Force Majeure: The Business is not liable for service failures due to events beyond reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, pandemics).
  • Severability: If any term is deemed invalid, the remaining terms shall continue in full effect.
  • Acceptance: Booking, payment, or attendance constitutes acceptance of these terms.
